I have been reading a really great series of books by Joy Ellis. I have only recently found her books by browsing through Amazon and I am so glad that I did, they are a great read.
I have been lucky enough to read her last two on Net Galley in exchange for a review; actually I am reading her current one Killer on The Fens right now and I’m really enjoying it. This book is currently 95 Cents on the Kindle store so it is well worth spending a Dollar to give this author a go.
The series is getting better as the books go on the characters are developing and forging relationships and as you get to know them the more you like them. The storylines are interesting and keep me engaged right through to the end of the book.
If you enjoy a mystery thriller I can recommend this author, all 4 have been a great read.
Very true, I adore reading and getting sucked into a book. The feeling totally consumes you and transports you to a different place and time. I love how you can sit for hours engrossed in a book and it feels like minutes instead of hours!
I was cruising through the Kindle store yesterday and spotted a book by one of my favourite authors, it was $19.95. Unbelievable!
Now I don’t mind paying that for a paper book because there are printing and consumables costs but $20 for an ebook …. Seriously! What’s that all about. You can’t even lend it to your friends and family or flog it on at a garage sale when you have read it like you can a real book.
All I can say is Wow; I totally agree that the writers etc need to be paid but an ebook is a single file that can be downloaded millions of times, to charge $20 is outrageous in my opinion. The cost of making an ebook download would be minimal compared to producing a print book.
The rising prices by many of my favourite authors have pushed me away from them to try some of the smaller authors. I now have a heap of new favourites, have read some amazing books and they have been priced in the range of $1.95 – $6. Now that I don’t mind paying!
I’m still a bit gobsmacked actually that they wanted $20 for a digital download. I’m going to be steering well clear of these books and will continue opting to read the books of my new favourite authors.
Does anyone else think that this is excessive?
My entire library is always with me in my google & kindle libraries. I love technology, who would have thought just a few short years ago that we would be able to carry an entire library in the palm of our hand…. Amazing!
Love this quote, exactly how I feel.
Yep this is me, especially the bit about the reading list never getting any smaller and the comment stating the book was better than the movie.
Haven’t been reading too much lately due to vision problems but I am still “collecting” books. Currently have 17 in my Google Play library and 15 in my Kindle library.
I like to read on my lunch break but have been having difficulty seeing without a magnifying glass but I figured out that if I signed into Google Chrome and downloaded the Play Books app I can read my book at lunchtime on the PC’s big screen. Very happy about that, it even syncs so that when I open the book on my tablet it opens up at the right page ☺
Got to be happy with that!
Happy reading fellow bookworms 😀
I have some great books sitting in my ebook shelf ready to read. Can’t wait to get into some of these books. As you can tell I am totally in to the thriller/murder mystery genre.
What do you have on your book shelf?
Was doing my usual last night, running through the Amazon upcoming releases list and came up with my reads for the back half of the year. I do this regularly to make sure that I don’t miss any new releases from my favourite authors.
As you can see I love a thriller and almost exclusively read this genre.
Still have quite a few that I haven’t read yet, I have been a little slow of late due to the bad eye situation. I currently have 17 on my Google play books shelf and 10 on my Kindle bookshelf. I certainly won’t be short of reading material for the rest of the year!
Note to myself ….. must remember that the Murder House by James Patterson is due out 28th September but he is also releasing it in five parts as below:-
Part 1 – 1/9
Part 2 -7/9
Part 3 – 14/9
Part 4 – 21/9
Part 5 – 24/9
I love books!
As I feel like I haven’t been mentally too well this week so I decided to cheer myself up and treat myself to a new book. I always love reading and generally it helps me mentally to get lost in a good gripping book.
I got the new Chris Carter thriller called I Am Death. I cannot wait to read it he is my all-time favourite author. I love the Robert Hunter series. I am so excited, but have to wait as I am already halfway through a book that I am really enjoying so don’t want to interrupt that to read the new one.
Something to look forward to!
I’m having rotten luck with my choice of books lately, I haven’t enjoyed anything that I have started and have given up after a few pages or chapters.
Have no idea why, perhaps my tastes are changing? I have tried some new authors; maybe I just don’t their style of writing and should stick with what I know and like. I think part of my problem is that new releases from my favourite authors are a bit quiet now until late July so to keep me going I am having to try new authors.
After 3 flops I am now reading Swansong by Damien Boyd. I recently discovered Damien’s works when I was browsing the Kindle store and thought I would give him a go. There are currently 4 books in the DI Nick Dixon series. I have enjoyed the first 3 so I am looking forward to getting stuck in to Swansong.
My bookshelves are filling up again and getting clogged with stuff that I probably won’t read. I currently have 15 in my Google Play library and 18 in my Kindle library. I can’t stop book shopping I love it, it’s so much fun. You never know when you are going to discover that gem that will turn out to be a really great read. In fact I think I might go book shopping at lunchtime, I don’t even have to leave my desk! How sad am I!
Happy reading everyone ☺
Today I am going to enjoy a lazy Sunday. Groceries and laundry etc are done, not much else to do but kick back and enjoy a quiet day with my family before the grind of work tomorrow. Got some fresh pasta and a sauce for dinner so that’s an easy one too ☺
I’m looking forward to catching up with some reading. Currently reading the new Jefferson Bass novel The Breaking Point.
Hope you all enjoy a wonderfully lazy Sunday too!
