Problem Solved, A New Favourite Author!

After yesterday’s post re me whinging that I didn’t know what to read I had a trawl through the Kindle store and discovered Michael Fowler.  Michael, where have you been all my life?  I started reading Heart of the Demon and I am LOVING it!  There are three more in the series, Cold Death, Secrets of the Dead and Coming, Ready or Not.  I have downloaded those as well.  I also got the first book in a new series called Scream, You Die.  I have plenty of good reading material now.

It feels really refreshing to have found a new favourite author, I think I was getting bored hence my struggle to choose a book.

Here is a synopsis of Heart of the Demon: –

Detective Sergeant Hunter Kerr and his partner DC Grace Marshall are called to the scene of a brutal slaying; the victim is a 14 year-old girl. The killer has been disturbed but he has left behind a puzzle. What is the significance of the marks gouged into the girl’s torso and why has a playing card been left with the body?

As Barnwell Major Investigation Team struggle to resolve the mystery they are confronted with another gruesome discovery; the mummified remains of a teenage girl are unearthed from the slurry of a former colliery site. This corpse bears all the hallmarks of the first slaying and yet this body has been buried for well over a decade.

They soon realise that a savage killer is stalking Yorkshire, preying on young girls, and with the discovery of the bodies comes a series of revelations about the past.
For Detective Sergeant Hunter Kerr and his team, the race against time to prevent further murders is complicated by the fact that several of his men have been involved on the periphery of earlier crimes, without even knowing it. And as the death toll mounts as more bodies are unearthed and new victims succumb to the murderer’s sick appetites, he finds that this case comes very close to home.

Very close indeed…

Too Crazy to Declutter!

So we all know I have this problem with hoarding books right?  Can be a problem but it’s got to be better than hoarding animals!

I was looking at my google play and kindle bookshelves and realised that I have no clue why I downloaded about half of them; they are totally not my genre.  Probably to get my book count up so that I don’t get “book anxiety”.   I am pretty sure that half the books in my bookshelves won’t get read so what’s the point in having them there?  They are just taking up space on my tablet and annoying me, taunting me trying to get me to read them when I have zero interest in doing so.

Time to declutter!  It is really difficult for me to get rid of books, so I went into my bookshelves with an aggressive attitude and culled everything that I knew deep down I would not read.

The result: – I now have a total of 14 books over the 2 bookshelves.  Pretty good I think as I had 27 this morning.  All I have now are books that I know I will read and enjoy …. Gawd I had some rubbish in there!  (I’m sure they were great books just not my cup of tea).

Now this is where the bipolar comes in.  I am telling myself that now I have decluttered my bookshelves I have all this room for some new books …… hehe guess who is going book shopping!

So really I haven’t decluttered at all, I am just swapping books that I know I won’t read for ones that I will.  My book count will be way up again before I know it, that’s not a problem though if I am actually going to read the books hey?
